Reporting into Project Manager
About the role
- Meet the business goals on Safety, Compliance, Customer Service, Environmental & Commercially on profitability, by maximising outputs & controlling costs in the delivery capacity.
- Use resources to their optimum across contract to create maximum efficiency.
- Work with Other Opus Site Managers to maximise continuity on programmes – cross flexing resource to meet the needs of the programme.
Responsibilities
- Health and Safety: Help implement and monitor health and safety protocols, reporting any incidents as per company procedures.
- Compliance: Conduct daily/weekly inspection audits, for vehicles and plant.
- Ensure mandatory team and site audits are completed in-line with company targets.
- Be a good decision maker allowing work to continue / progress without hold ups.
- Procurement: Monitor and managing site materials, equipment, and plant resources to ensure they are available as required.
- Contractual: Ensure the early warning process is followed if works differ from the agreed work instruction.
- Information capturing: Completing project documentation for record-keeping and future reference
- Compliance Ensuring all work is completed according to safety standards and regulations.
- Preparation: Preparing and presenting project progress reports to management and stakeholders
- Identification: Identifying potential risks and issues in the project, and devising contingency plans
- Procurement: Monitor and managing site materials, equipment, and plant resources to ensure they are available as required.
- Legislation: Ensure Compliance in accordance to permit conditions and the New Roads and Street Works Act.
- Briefings: Conduct daily work instructions/toolbox talks during allocation of the work to the field operatives.
- Data Capturing: Monitor and action any missing information or data which hasn’t been captured on our internal enterprise system, Ensure DMRs are completed and returned as per OPUS/SPEN process.
- Management of staff: Evaluate and manage subcontractors/ direct labours’ work quality, efficiencies, and their ability to meet project scope and timelines.
- Stakeholders: Foster strong client, customer, and local Authority relationship.
- Communication: Engage in communication across all sectors of delivery.
- Delivery: Ensure projects are managed in line with timescales, scope, and budget.
- Contractual: Ensure the early warning process is followed if works differ from the agreed work instruction.
- Plant & Fleet control – weekly checks undertaken on teams being managed
- Daily vehicle checks on own & teams’ fleet

- Governance: Overseeing all delivery scope for the project, including monitoring project budget, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Communication: Engage in communication across all sectors of delivery
