This week, our team at Opus Utility Solutions were proud to support Dixons Academies Trust in Newall Green, South Manchester, at their Year 8 & 9 careers fair.

It was a great opportunity to showcase what we do across Opus Group (NW), and to help students understand how our work supports and continues to improve the electrical infrastructure in their local area — not just today, but for decades to come.

There was fantastic dialogue throughout the event, with students showing real curiosity and engagement in our engineering solutions and the career pathways available within our industry.

Helen Mullen, Assistant Principal at the school, said:

“These events are critical to broaden the knowledge of our students so they can think wisely about the choices in Year 9, which inevitably lead towards career decisions later in life. We were delighted with the Opus team who facilitated today’s fair — the levels of engagement were fantastic and exactly what we aimed for. We hope Opus will return to support our next event.”

And, Thomas Walsh, our Group Business Director, added:

“At Opus Group (NW), we’ve built a strong foundation of apprenticeships across the business — with 10% of our employed workforce now apprentices, spanning both administration and operational roles. This is significant for our business and the wider industry. The scale of change ahead is considerable, and it’s imperative we build this workforce now to meet future demand. Events like this reflect what we stand for — supporting our communities, sharing the positive impact of our work, and giving young people a genuine insight into our world, with the hope of encouraging more to build a career within it.”

A great effort by #TeamOpus — thank you to everyone who supported and made the day such a success.
