Following the ongoing success of our major works project in Porthmadog, North Wales, we have been asked by a key client to undertake a nearby project, and help them with engineering challenges & to complete the critical work to enable a better service to customers in the area.

The project involves installing an underground cable to the village of Penmachno. Penmachno is currently supplied by overhead power lines and has been identified as one of SP Energy Networks’ worst performing circuits in terms of volumes of interruptions to customer supplies due to the scale of recent storms. So SP Energy Networks’ investment will give greater resilience to the distribution network in the area.

We were chosen for these works because of the great work done in Porthmadog, thanks to Mark Rust (Major Works Delivery Manager), Tim Maloney (Project Manager) & Delyth Lloyd (Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Wales Region).

The team are now advanced in the process of planning the works, in collaboration with Opus Traffic Management Solutions, the local parish council, local and regional highways agencies and most importantly the residents. Given that this area is maintained by one main road for access the farming community and commuters are being prioritised in the planning of these works. We’ve communicated well, held village hall events, and last week had an open evening allowing residents, business owners to pop in and talk to us.

We have night work planned through the school holidays, to minimise disruption, then works continue in September when we’ll complete a full turnkey solution on this project.

The end to end quality delivered by Opus Utility Solutions goes far beyond digging holes, jointing & reinstating. We think of every need for our clients & customers.
